Stack

The homelab has three deployment mechanisms and the boundary between them is deliberate:

  • docker compose — the default. User-facing services live here, one directory per stack.
  • k3s — used on some hosts, with the edge namespace carrying media services.
  • systemd — host-level daemons (DNS resolvers, tunnels, exporters).

This section records which mechanism owns what, and the rule for choosing one when adding a service.
